GPT's lack of source information is killing me

I'm supposed to write a paper for school, and GPT's lack of citations is just the worst. It seems like maybe back in 3.5 they started adding hyperlinks to the search results that it pulls from, but it does not give you citations in the typical "FName LName, Title, Year" format. But if you've asked it to write a paper, it's surely trawled its data together from many many sources, and doesn't help when I ask it to give me the names of those sources.
