How do I improve my writing voice?

I don't plan on posting my stuff here. I've been working on cultivating a more distinctive writing voice both in terms of the tone and the style, but I don't really know how to do that. I've read a lot about it, but I'm not really sure. Is there any advice you have? Thanks!
