So I had an interesting conversation at lunch/In small town America, people have no clue what we’re up against.

Hi everyone. I went for lunch in the holler this afternoon and had to absolutely tell all of you what happened. I went to a surreal little restaurant here. It’s an old train station with a dining area. Candles on the table. It’s like stepping back in time. I asked the waitress about her day. We started talking about the news. She said she’ll never trust “the news” again. I asked her why. She said she heard it was a lie that the President had thousands of documents in Mar a Lago. That it was a lie. She said that she starts to wonder what else they lie about. I told her to talk to my wife. She mentioned the President had a lot of pretty bad “press” . I asked what she meant. She said there were a lot of claims that the President might be a “racist bigot “ or “unfit for office” and she said that after “I watched him put his hand on his heart for the anthem , I knew he wasn’t that bad of a guy “. <br><br>Then I brought up Israel. I told her I was Jewish and that this was a pro Israel page. I told her that I was pretty active in it. She said “Israel? What do you mean?”. I asked her if she had heard any of the news about the war going on right now. She said “war?” I told her that Israel has been under attack for 18 days. And that now Israel is being heard from. She said “I didn’t know they were under attack “. I told her that there was a huge attack on Israel by Hamas. And that Israel is just trying to stop their enemy. She looked very confused. I told her that the people of Israel have been forced into bomb shelters for 18 straight days. She shook her head. I said it’s so weird to have to explain this to people. She asked “ so what’s going on? “ I said that “ we’re just fighting to survive “. <br><br>She started talking about how “I don’t really pay attention to all that “. I said “ it’s pretty important to us “. I told her about the death toll. I said “ you’d think that much death would be in the news “. She said “ I don’t get the news much anymore “. Then I just broke down. I said “my people are getting slaughtered and absolutely no one cares”. She said “ who doesn’t care? “. I said “ the news/your friends/anyone “. Then I started to cry. She was clearly confused. So she ran off to find her boss. <br><br>When she came back she had a very nice woman with her. I can’t remember her title. But she was very important. So I told her the same story. I was still choking back tears. I told her “my people are dying by the thousands and nobody cares “. She shook her head and said “ I saw a headline “. I asked her “ did you read it? “. And she said “no “. I said “ it was probably a lie anyway “. She said “ what do you mean? “. I said “the news is saying that it’s Israel doing all the killing “. She asked me “ is that true?”. I said “no “. I told her that “ thousands of innocent people were ripped from their homes and butchered “. I said “ if we were doing that, there would be 100’s of thousands dead “. She looked like I had punched her in the gut. I told her “ we’re just fighting to survive “. She said “ oh my Lord “. <br><br>I felt like I had to do more. So I asked her if she would take a message back to her staff. She said “ of course “. So I told her that “ if anyone hear’s something about Israel right now, it is absolute nonsense. If you want the truth, come find me “. Then I said “ if you guys are religious, pray for us “. Then I said “ this is the only country that my people can be guaranteed safety “. Then I said “ we are just trying to survive right now “. I told them that “ we just want to be safe “. And then I asked “ can you do this for me? “. And she nodded. And I thanked God that at least ONE person in this world cared about my people. <br><br>I honestly can’t think of anything more scary. I’m not scared of the enemy. I’m afraid that we’re alone.
