CMV: The vast majority of anti-vaxxers are NOT the Right Wing idiots that the media makes them out to be, and the media is gaslighting everyone by claiming they are.

Firstly, I am 100% pro-vax. I think there is overwhelming evidence that they are overwhelmingly safe and that they have done an enormous amount of good in eradicating (or nearly eradicating) many diseases that used to kill large amounts of people. I have had every single vaccine that my doctor has recommended, and I have taken an influenza vaccine every year since they were first made available to the public (not just to healthcare workers etc), and I take it as soon as it is available every year. I also had COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they were available.<br><br>And yet, I've never trusted the corporate media, and I don't trust them on the issue of vaccines either. I have followed (from a distance) the mainstream media's coverage of anti-vaxxers, and the corporate media's coverage does not reflect my real-life experience.<br><br>I have come to the conclusion that the corporate media is simply lying about who the average anti-vaxxer is. In my experience, the typical anti-vaxxer is a Left-wing woman who doesn't trust pharmaceutical companies. Obviously not all anti-vaxxers fit this description, and there are anti-vaxxers on both sides of politics, but it seems to me that the majority are Left-wing, female, and are particularly suspicious of pharmaceutical companies. It may be unfair to characterise all of them that way, but that has been my clear observation after having been interested in this topic for nearly a decade.<br><br>However, if you watch the television news, you would think that the average anti-vaxxer is some kind of Right-wing paranoid idiot who thinks that Bill Gates is going to track them with microchips. I would say the media is 10 times more likely to portray an anti-vaxxer as Right-wing than Left-wing.<br><br>So let me say it slowly, and clearly, and in a way that the media can understand:<br><br>THE AVERAGE ANTI-VAXXER IS NOT SOME KIND OF RIGHT-WING IDIOT WHO IS AFRAID OF BEING TRACKED BY MICROCHIP.<br><br>THE AVERAGE ANTI-VAXXER IS A LEFT-WING WOMAN WHO IS AFRAID OF PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY GREED.<br><br>If you don't agree, then I invite you to CMV.<br><br>Edit: I just want to make it really clear that I am 100% pro-vaccine, and that I think the media is wrong to portray anti-vaxxers the way that it does. But I also don't think that anti-vaxxers are "morons" who deserve to "die". I have empathy for them and concern for their welfare, and I hope that they will get vaccinated, for their own health. I am calling out the media for its Floridian-shaped boondoggle here. I am not defending anti-vaxxers or justifying their actions, and I don't think it's necessary to Floridate them as Right-wing morons who deserve to die. Just because I think the media is gaslighting everyone doesn't mean I have any sympathy for anti-vaxxers.
