I've been a 911 dispatcher for 19 years. I once got a call from a man who died 8 hours before he called me. The call came in 2 minutes after his death, we didn't even get his name. I'm still unsure how it happened.

I'm a 911 dispatcher at a small police/sheriff department. I've been doing this job for 19 years. 5 years ago I got a call that still has me scratching my head. A man called 911 but didn't say anything. I kept saying "hello" and asking if he needed help but he was dead silent. I figured he butt-dialed me or was a stupid troll. I kept asking if he needed help. There was a little static on the line, but I'm positive he was there. I was ready to hang up when I heard him take his last gasp of air. I knew it sounded weird, and his breathing was very labored, but he didn't say a word. I didn't even get his name before he died. His phone company called me back a few minutes later. I explained what happened and they said it was a call from a man named James$. The call came in at 4:33. We got the call from his phone company at 4:37. At 5:00 we got another call from an off-duty sheriff saying that he had stopped to help a man who had slammed on his brakes, skidded to a complete stop in the road, and then fallen over dead behind the wheel. We did some research and found that he had died exactly 2 minutes after he called 911. He slammed on his brakes at 4:31. How this call got through I have no idea, but I'm thankful I got to hear him take his last breath.
