The most annoying part about the gun control debate is people's lack of understanding about the difference between "gun violence" and "mass shootings"

The "gun violence" issue is easy to solve: stop shooting each other in Chicago. Going by the averages of years past, *over 4 people are shot and killed daily* in Chicago. These are not mass shootings. These are individual incidents usually involving gang violence or street thugs. But the Left uses these statistics when talking about "gun violence". Grow up. You're just using dead people to support your agenda. They don't care about these people, they only care about advancing their political agenda.

Mass shootings, like Sandy Hook or Las Vegas, are attacks perpetrated by usually white, middle-class, psychologically unstable males who usually have no prior arrests or history of violence. They are not "gun violence", they are deranged lunatics intent on inflicting harm and death on others for their own sick reasons. They usually do not have any gang affiliation, and do not have any history of violence. They are the people you least expect. And when they snap, because of whatever reasons, they do it in the most destructive way possible. Banning high-capacity magazines will not prevent people from doing this, and banning assault rifles will not stop these people either. They'll find a way to do it somehow. The only way to prevent these kinds of events is to prevent these people from acquiring guns in the first place. And how do you do that? You don't, because there is no way to identify these people beforehand.

Imagine if in response to the Boston bombing the government said "We need to ban pressure cookers." Or if after 9/11 they said "We need to ban box cutters."
