AITA for telling my SIL that I am not wiring money to her because her “rainy day fund” is for emergencies.

I always have all my siblings backs. We were raised to support each other and can count on each other no matter what. My brother is the second youngest and his wife is financially illiterate.

We all contribute (amount we can afford) to a joint family account. It is used for emergency money like car repairs, medical bills, vet bills, etc. All of us have a shared pin to access the money to use. This money has saved us a lot of stress and makes it a lot easier to be able to afford to pay for things we didn’t see coming. A lot of us have used the money for big ticket items. We have helped my brother and SIL multiple times. We have never refused to give them money.

My SIL has asked me for money twice in the last two months. She asked for money for a trip to the beach and I said she should have saved her money instead of wasting it on random stuff. I ended up giving her the money and she promised she would pay me back.

She has spent her money stupidly again. I told her to get the money from their savings account. She has refused and instead is angry at me for not sending her money. I am mad that she says we don’t care about her and that I make it look like I don’t have money by sending funds into the joint account.
