I [36M] have 3 sisters and 2 brothers, we all live in the same town, so when my youngest niece [24F] said she wanted to have her wedding at our town, we all were all happy and excited. My family are all Christians and we go to church every Sunday. All of us don't condone any form of nudity. So obviously when we go to church or to wedding, we are all dressed up.

For the wedding, all of us were dressed up and quite suit up. About half an hour after the wedding start, my niece walk down the aisle toward the alter where her husband is. Everything seem to be going well, my parents were crying and all that. But then the husband suddenly stop the ceremony and said he like to talk to his dad friends [me].

He walk down the aisle toward me and him and his parents start scolding me for not taking my jacket off during a wedding. I was like "what"? He and his parents tell me that I am being disrespectful by keeping my jacket on during the entire wedding. I told them that this is a place of worship and I don't see the need to take my jacket off at church. But they said other guests took their jacket off already, I should have done the same to. To make a long story short, we argue about this for a little bit and then I refuse to take my jacket off. He and his parents were angry and said the wedding can't go on if I don't remove my jacket off but I still refuse. So they just pack their thing up and leave.

Now my family are divided about this whole thing. Some said it was my fault for not taking my jacket off at the wedding cause the air adjuster was broken and every body was hot. I said it doesn't matter. I don't see why I need to take my jacket off when we at a church. Some said I was wrong and should have take my jacket off because my niece and her husband were sweating. Some people even said I should buy them a new wedding venue cause this one was already paid for. And some even said I should apologize to them for not taking my jacket off at their wedding. So now I am wondering AITA??
