Anyone else disappointed by the lack of developments in brain machine interfaces?

I remember seeing a TED talk by Andrew Schwartz in 2008 with a chip that allowed a monkey to control a robotic hand... 15 years later, we can't even stick these chips in paraplegic people (except for a few exceptions with a lot of publicity)?
