What was the public's reaction to the Apollo 11 Moon Landing?

I've done a lot of reading on the Apollo program and really interesting to know what was happening on Earth. <br><br>I live in Australia and was born in 1988 so well after the Apollo program finished. I am really interested in the Apollo program and the Space Race. Unfortunately it's something that I never got to live through.<br><br>I am really curious, what was the public's reaction to the Apollo 11 Moon landing? I believe it was the first time that a lot of people had seen the news live.
