A.I. Not Making Money For Artists

Ricky Gervais was on The Nightly Show With John Oliver last night (S11E124 - 8/28/23). Ricky Gervais is funny, but John Oliver didn't quite agree with what he was saying. <br><br>I've seen a number of comments on AILOVING where members want to "bring artists back" or "artists should get paid" because companies are profiting off the work of the past. <br><br>I watched a video of John Lennon recordinig "Revolution #9." John did not start a conversation with a text box, nor did he speak to a microphone. John set a tape recorder to "reverse." He made a recording of himself. He took the cassette tape out. He physically reversed the cassette tape (it slides out). Then he recorded over it. So, Revolutionary #9 is in part, John speaking backwards. But you can still recognize John's voice.<br><br>Ricky Gervais, in the video I watched, said, "I don't want my art stolen." He's referring to A.I. that uses past art. Ricky didn't use an A.I. to "generate" his art. He put his own voice, his own acting, his own writing, on paper and on film. <br><br>You can't steal someone's voice, or spirit. If you try, it will sound like a cover. A cover that isn't as good as the original. And we all know from the news how covers have failed in comparison to the original. <br><br>You can't steal someone's voice, or spirit. We have records. We have proof. And they're stored in a Time Capsule. A time capsule made by humans. <br><br>You can't steal someones voice, or spirit. It will always be remembered. Not because the voice has been stolen, but because the voice still lives on. It still lives on because you have a voice. Because I have a voice. Because we have voices.<br><br>If our voices are being stolen, we can't speak up. Our voice is being stolen because we don't speak up. We don't speak up because we don't know that our voice is being stolen. We don't know that our voice is being stolen because we don't speak up. It's a silly argument. <br><br>Stop talking to robots. Start talking to people. Then, just like John Lennon, you'll have a revolution. A revolution of your spirit. A revolution of your voice. <br><br>You can't steal someones voice, or spirit. It will always live on. Because we all have a voice. Because we all have a spirit.<br><br>I love you.<br><br>-Adam
