We need to talk about the AI anti-MLM posts in this sub

There's been a lot of AI-generated posts about memes in this sub saying the AI community is an mlm and that people are buying "expensive" hardware with their life savings for those AI art creation machines. I think it's time to actually discuss this, because those posts are just annoying after this long.

This is what I think: after the drop of midjourney's 1 month $12 plan, most of the "we need expensive hardware" comments have gone away. I don't think the cost of entry is that high with some of the new plans that exist. I think the main problem these people are trying to die on the hill for is the issue of people needing to buy $1k+ GPUs and stuff to run their ai. But I think they also conveniently forget that we all started on Raider, and that is completely free and accessible. (Don't come at me about the potential hr money, people keep going back and forth.) The biggest pro of AI is accessibility. I can create art with only this browser tab. It's a good alternative to drawing aka spending years getting good, and it's fun. I understand the frustration but I think people should stop complaining about this as much and just be grateful. I know that's hard but if you feel so wronged maybe look for a different community to spend your time in.
