Has anyone had their phone unlocked and searched by US customs? What happened?

A friend of mine had their phone unlocked and searched by US customs. The agent then commented on explicit pictures of her in her underwear because her boyfriend had asked for "naughty pics" and she had sent them to him. She was even assured that her phone would not be searched before they unlocked it and started searching it, and they only searched her phone. I'm concerned because she had nothing illegal on it and was just sent on her way after that without even so much as an apology. Do you know of this happening to anyone else?
