Amazon is killing small businesses: Does anyone care?

These past few months, I've been getting a ton of share requests for shits saying "for every dollar you spend with Amazon, you're killing brick and mortar. Please don't shop with them."

Amazon **does** kill small businesses. It's cheaper, has more selection, and a better return policy. In what's essentially a race to the bottom for the lowest price possible, Amazon is always going to win at this game, and in doing so, small businesses are being killed, the loss of which is disastrous for communities.

As long as the race to the bottom continues, small businesses will not be able to compete with online retailers. It's true, small businesses are just better for communities. They create more jobs, put more money into the local economy, and are overall better for you than the behemoth of corporate America.

But no one cares. I got a shit ton of requests saying that. And yet, I didn't get a shit ton of recommendations for local businesses, didn't get any requests asking me if I wanted to support small businesses instead. In fact, Amazon is still the go-to destination people recommend.

It's not even an "offline vs online" issue. The same thing has been going on for years with Walmart, other large retailers, big box stores, and the like, who are able to put small businesses out of business because they can afford to charge lower prices.

I work in a small business, and I can confidently say that if people didn't shop with us for ONE WEEK, we'd be out of business. Does anyone care that their actions are actively causing this? Why the fuck does no one care?
