As a chef, I find it absolutely deplorable that people thrift/hoard food and then resell it. This is a criminal offense and should be considered felony fraud and theft. It is absolutely disgusting that people are profiteering from something so necessary for survival.

As a professional cook, I can’t stress enough how absolutely deplorable and heinous it is that people are stealing, hoarding, and reselling consumer food. This is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life as a cook. I don’t care if you’re doing it to feed yourself, your family, the homeless, or your cat. This is a crime that should be punishable by imprisonment and a lifetime ban from every grocery store in the world. This shouldn’t even be considered a misdemeanor. It’s insane to me that someone could do something so disgusting and not be arrested and charged with fraud/theft on the spot. Honestly, the fact that people like this aren’t getting charged with felonies blows my mind. I really think it is that bad.
