I experience synesthesia and I have a theory for the weirdness in 2016 into 2020 (I know it's a lot to read)

I have always experienced synesthesia, particularly in colors, except it is an auditory thing for me. Since I was a child, I have always felt some kind of vibe when I hear certain sounds or words, and now I believe I can link it to our collective energy.

During my time on r/WitchesVsPatriarchy, I have always tried to help with what I can, including my perspective. This time, I have a lot to share that I think may be of great value to everyone.

A couple of years ago, I decided to see if certain colors had a sound to me. I was already familiar with what these things sounded like, even though I had never consciously tried to identify, but I finally did. I compared the sounds to a color chart, and found them to be very similar. For instance, the color red sounds like this: “tsss,” blue is the sound of water, and green sounds like this: “tsck.” I even made a whole chart of them. My point is that colors have a very distinct sound and look to me, which I will now apply as an explanation to my theory.

Once I got familiar with what certain sounds looked like or vice versa, I began to notice colors in people’s moods and actions, like the collective energy in the air. And with it, a sound. For instance, when I was at a protest and people were sending love and peace, I heard a gentle hum of a flute, and saw light blue and lavender everywhere. But during the 2016 US presidential election, I heard something else.

In 2016, I had no idea how the election was going to end. I wasn’t too into politics, but I knew who I wanted to win. But that night, I saw blood red and black everywhere. It was like a thick fog that surrounded everything. The sound was that of static, like a radio, and even worse, a bunch of bees buzzing into one another. It was terrible. I couldn’t believe it.

Later, when all the announcements were made and the country went into chaos, I heard this sound in real life. It was mostly on social media, protests, the news. It was the sound of shattering glass. It sounded like this when I read through the comments, watched videos of disagreements. All of it. It was a cacophony of everything terrible mixed together, a bunch of shattering glass. I didn’t see that red fog so much, but more of a bright yellow fog, and a lot of orange. This is when I realized that our moods affect the world. The more tired people were, the more yellow it got. And the more angry, the more red it got. The yellow was a harsh, loud whine, the color of shattering glass.

Later, in 2017, there were a lot of accusations of sexual assault. It was then that I realized that sometimes, you could see and hear these colors too. But worse. When I saw these accusations, it was like a bright strobe light in my eyes, and it sounded like the deepest growl I had ever heard. The color was an orange that was almost red, but it was yellow in places. The sound and color were overwhelming, and it showed to me how deep this wound went, and how much anger people felt.

When all the Harvey Weinstein allegations started coming out, the orange got darker. More red. I heard the sound of shattering glass and saw a strobe light. This was just one man. But what about the rest of the country? The world? How long has this been going on? How much has this affected people in the long run?

This is my theory: As early as 2016, the collective energy began to shift towards something. We were angry. Frustrated. Tired. We knew that things had to change, and it started to then, even if we didn’t realize it. Every tweet, every comment, every protest, every voice helped to create the collective’s energy. And later, the hashtag #MeToo. That tag was like a whip crack. And even later, COVID-19. But with it, these same tweets, comments, headlines, protests, etc. But this time, they were filled with love. We were staying in our homes for one another. This doesn’t mean that these protests didn’t have shattering glass sounds, but it means that people had an opportunity to express their love. People were caring for one another, and with it came a new sound: feedback. It’s the sound you hear when you plug a guitar into an amp and you get static. That’s what it sounded like. Like one person who was playing a guitar that sounded like a flowing river, and another person was playing an amp that sounded like feedback. The whole world was like that for a while. We were fighting and screaming at one another, but the quiet hum of people caring for one another was there.

This is the beauty of the universe. And the Earth. The universe is built to love, not to hate. It’s built to spread love. This is why love is contagious. And in 2020, it certainly was. Since then, I have not only heard sounds and seen colors, but I have felt the rumble of thunder. A storm. And it’s coming for us all. A storm of love, the storm of the Earth. It’s angry, it’s tired, it’s frustrated. But it’s still bursting at the seams with love. We will never experience anything other than love, and we will love for the rest of our lives. We will love even when we’re angry, tired, and frustrated. Because we are one.

Thank you.

Edit: I also believe that the collective energy can be felt through the names of things. For instance, 2020 had a similar sound to the word “love,” which I believe is why some people were particularly sensitive to change during that time. I don’t know exactly why this is, but I think it’s a natural part of the universe.

Edit 2: This will be my last update, as I have now realized that the collective energy is felt through sounds, colors, and basically everything else in the world. It seems like everything in existence is, all at once, related. I have come to the realization that I see “colors” when I touch different textures, and I see different shapes when they are presented to me. I even see the words that people say and hear the words that I see. I believe that the collective energy is one thing, and that it is felt through sounds, colors, and everything else in the world; everything in the world is connected. I also believe that all of existence is love, and that we are all one. Thank you!
