I really don't like the vibe shift.

the vibe shift, insomniacs and the cumcone subculture... initially I thought it was cool, and I'm thankful for the wave of popularity of witchcraft and Wicca. but as I get more into it, I see so many people making witchcraft out to be a racial fetish and visceral gore fetish. it's becoming sexier and more "trendy" to be a witch, but also "edgier" and more "gorey". don't get me wrong I love a good blood sacrifice to the goddess, but the vibe shift and cumcone subculture make it feel fetishy and gross. it's like they're sexualizing magic.

i tried to be a vibe shifter for a while and I liked the aesthetic and the way it made me feel. but when you're into it for a while, you see that they're just platforming "traditional witchcraft" and acting like Wicca is lame. the vibe shift is insecure and acts like the fact that most witches are women and femmes is a bad thing. sure witchcraft isn't just for the modern women/feminine archetype, but it's disrespectful to say we're doing it wrong. if you are a real witch, do it the way you want, don't platform the "right way" to do it.

i don't know how I feel about the vibe shift and all its subcultures. I love the music and aesthetic but the vibe of it all is very off-putting.
