The parent company of Facebook and Instagram said it will reduce its staff by as much as 10,000 jobs.<br><br>CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Meta will also close 5,000 job openings it has yet to fill.<br><br>Earlier this year, Meta laid off 11,000 and closed thousands of open positions.<br><br>The news comes after Meta announced it would lift a hiring freeze it imposed on the company late last year. <br><br>The company detailed the plans in a letter to employees published on the company’s website. <br><br>Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg described the job cuts in planned rounds of layoffs that would take place over the next few months, according to the Wall Street Journal. ?<br><br><br>Meta will close 5,000 open positions it has not filled yet. It laid off 11,000 jobs last year. It will also stop hiring for 5,000 positions it had not yet started to fill.<br><br>The company says it will cut back on low priority projects across its business.<br><br>Over the next couple of months, Meta will be closing 5,000 additional job openings that it had hired for but not yet filled.<br><br>According to the Wall Street Journal, Zuckerberg also announced a new reorganisation of the company.<br><br>In a letter addressed to employees, he said the company will be removing multiple layers of management and has "flattened" the company.<br><br>Zuckerberg said the changes were in an effort to remove unnecessary hurdles and get products out faster.<br><br>The company wants to get products "out the door as quickly as possible". The company has also promised to get rid of many middle management positions that it calls "manager of managers".
