Waking up to breaking news on your phone is an awful thing. It’s a normal Tuesday, or Wednesday or Saturday. You’re groggily reaching for your phone to check the time. Ah, gotta get up in 15. You glance at it, and there it is. Major shooting, thousands dead. 8 dead, 2 injured, but still very tragic. 100’s feared dead. Terrible shame, be good today y’all.

Imagine if that was gone. Imagine opening your phone, groggily scrolling through Twitter and seeing… nothing. Maybe some celebrity drama. Maybe if it’s a good week, some promising medical breakthroughs. Maybe a ‘breakthrough’ in a war, talks of peace. Imagine not having to worry about if you’re safe to go outside today. Imagine not having to dread logging onto your phone every single day.

This is the world of incelaria. This is your world now.

In this world, a law was passed for everyone, to just not allow anyone under 18 to see the news. You can ask your parents, teachers, etc, but they can’t change your knowledge. They can’t tell you what’s going on. Why?

Well strangely enough, it worked. There are less shootings. Fewer depressed teens. More people going outside. Does the news still happen? Of course. But children don’t know.

Now you, a 14 year old girl, have just found out what the world is really like. What happens? Why have you discovered this? What do you do?
