Stalked by a woman I met at a coffee shop

I didn't know where else to post this lengthy story, so I'm hoping you all will find it interesting and creepy enough to share.

This happened to me about a year ago. I would guess it was even less than a year ago, but I can't give an exact timeline. I don't really keep track of time very well.

I live in a big city (I don't know if that is too much info, but I have to be careful) and I used to regularly go to this coffee shop for a little bit everyday. Honestly, I'm not going to lie and say I had no intention of it, but I would almost always go there to find a date or at least get laid. I made a few good connections there and would usually end the day off with a nice little hook up. It didn't take long for me to get familiar with some of the regulars there, and sometimes I would hook up with them too.

One day, when I was there, I noticed a woman sitting next to me. She looked very attractive. But what really caught my attention was that she had a nice smile and seemed very friendly. So I went over to talk to her. She was very nice and I really enjoyed talking to her. It seemed like we had a lot in common, and we could talk for hours. I could tell she was interested in me too.

After a while, we got to know each other pretty well. We talked about our families, jobs, hobbies, and everything else. It was like we had known each other for years. At some point, I asked her if she wanted to have a cup of coffee with me. She agreed, and we went to sit down at a table. We talked some more, and I thought we were getting along really well. I even considered asking her out on a date.

But just as we were about to leave, she did something that made me feel very uncomfortable. She leaned in really close and whispered in my ear, "I'm so glad we met. I was starting to think I'd never find someone like you." It sent chills down my spine. I didn't know what to say, so I just smiled and said, "Yeah, me too." Then she said, "You're so cute. I just can't stop looking at you."

I could tell she was trying to flirt with me, but it felt weird. Like there was something off about it. I told her we should probably go, and she said, "Okay, I'll walk you out." I didn't want to be rude, so I said okay. But as we were walking out the door, she leaned in close again and whispered, "I'll see you around." It felt like a threat.

For the next few days, I didn't go back to the coffee shop. I was almost afraid to go back. I thought maybe I had been too nice to her or something. Then I told myself I was just being paranoid. So I decided to go back. But when I got there, she was there again, sitting in the same seat as before. When she saw me, she smiled and waved at me. I waved back and she came over.

"You look so good today," she said. "I love your shirt. It really brings out your eyes." I told her thank you and sat down at a table to drink my coffee. But then she asked if she could sit with me. I didn't want to be rude, so I said okay. When she sat down, I could tell she was scooting really close to me. Then she kept touching my arm. I didn't like it. It made me feel uncomfortable.

Then she started telling me weird things. She said she had been worried sick about me. She said she liked my hair and wanted to touch it. I told her it was okay but don't do that. She said she just wanted to get to know me better. I told her okay and that was it.

The next day, I went back again. But when I walked in the door, she saw me and waved. Then she came over to talk to me. I didn't want to be rude, so I smiled and nodded. But when I went to sit down, she followed me. She didn't even ask if she could sit down, she just did.

This time, she started asking me weird questions. She asked me where I lived and what my work schedule was. I didn't want to tell her, so I just said I lived near by and worked a lot. She seemed to accept that as an answer. But then she asked me if I wanted to go out with her sometime. I told her I didn't think so. I said I wasn't really looking for a relationship right now. I told her I was happy being alone.

She looked really upset when I said that, but then she smiled and said okay. I thought, well maybe she isn't so bad after all. But then I went to leave and she followed me out of the coffee shop. She said she would walk me to my car. I told her that was okay, but she kept following me. So I decided to just go for a little walk. I didn't want to go to my car because I didn't want her to know what my car looked like.

So I just walked down the street. I didn't really have a destination in mind. I just wanted to get away from her. But she kept following me. She would always stay a little bit ahead of me. I tried to lose her by turning corners, but she always seemed to know exactly where I was going. It was like she knew the neighborhood better than I did. I was starting to get really scared. I didn't know what to do.

Finally, I decided to go into a nearby restaurant. When I walked in, she didn't follow me. So I sat down at a table and ordered some food. When the food came, I ate it. Then I left.

When I walked out of the restaurant, she was sitting on a bench right across the street from me. She smiled and waved at me. I didn't wave back. I just kept walking. I decided I was going to go to the police station. So I walked in the direction of the police station. I walked for a few blocks. Then I turned a corner. That's when I saw her. She was standing on the corner, just a few feet away from me. I stopped dead in my tracks.

"You're so cute when you're angry," she said.

I didn't answer. I just kept walking. But I walked really fast. I didn't look back. I just kept going. Finally, I reached the police station. I went inside and sat down at a desk. I told the police officer what had happened. He listened patiently. Then he asked me some questions. Then he told me they would look into it. I thanked him and left.

But when I walked out of the police station, she was standing across the street. She was just standing there, staring at me. I didn't do anything. I just stood there for a second. Then I turned around and went back inside the police station. I told them what happened. They told me they would send an officer out to look for her. I waited there for a while. But no one ever found her.

After that day, I never went back to that coffee shop. I didn't feel safe there anymore. And I never saw that woman again. But sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had gone out with her. Would she have killed me? I'll never know.

The scariest part about all of this is that it was so unexpected. I went to that coffee shop looking to get laid, but what I got instead was a stalker. It just goes to show that you can't predict what will happen in life.
