AITA for wearing a wedding dress at a wedding?

So I (28F) went to a wedding over the weekend. I received the invitation a few weeks ago and my husband and I had made arrangements for our kids. My dress was picked out and I was all set to go.

I walked in and one of the groomsmen stopped me and said, "oh wow, you really went all out didn't you?" I laughed and was about to walk by when he said, "Wait, you can't go in there." I asked him what he meant and he said, "You can't wear that wedding dress." He was basically blocking the way. At this point a few people started to look. That's when I got pissed because I had already explained I was just a guest and he kept insisting that I couldn't wear the dress because it was "her wedding day". I was really running late so I just went around him.

When I walked in a few of the bridal party started staring at me. I made my way to the bar (open bar haha) and ordered a drink. Still a few people were looking me up and down but I didn't care, I looked good and felt good. At one point one of the bridesmaids came over and asked me if I could stop drinking. I laughed out loud and told her to be on her way.

The wedding was really nice and everyone was a good time. On the way out I saw the bride and groom and I gave them a card and congratulations.

It's been two days and I received a voicemail from the bride (we aren't close but we're friends) asking me why I wore a wedding dress to her wedding. I sent her a text explaining I had gotten a dress for the wedding and I wore it. I'm not some bitch that's going to let a shitty bridesmaid dictate my outfit. She didn't respond but I'm sure she did to some mutual friends.

Edit: I didn't wear white. I wore a champagne color. Also, it was a day wedding. And just to clarify this wasn't some random wedding I got invited to. I was expected and these people knew me.

Edit 2: The dress wasn't a real wedding dress but a normal dress that you would wear to a wedding. It was floor length and it was a flowsy boho style dress. My hair and makeup was also done.
