Why do people think that Mary I of England was a terrible queen?

So in school people often describe Mary I of England as a terrible queen who was so hated by the people. But the more I learn the more I start to question this. The only reason she was hated was that she was a Catholic monarch who burnt heretics.Her burning of Protestants was certainly controversial but it was a common practise in Europe at the time. Other than that she was quite a good Queen. She brought stability and peace to England and had a successful marriage. She was also quite popular among the Catholics and overall the protests against her were not widespread.<br><br>So where did people get this that she was so hated and was a terrible Queen?
