The official Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) account was created in December 2021 and has around 9,800 followers, with just 37 posts so far. It’s mostly short clips of agents doing different jobs, from forensic research to interviewing suspects. The idea is to show how the FBI actually works, and to get more people interested in working there.<br><br>The FBI joined TikTok because 60% of the people watching are between 16 and 24 years old. The FBI said, “We want to show our employees doing different jobs, as well as the range of fields in which we operate. We are using TikTok to try and recruit new candidates, while also raising awareness for the FBI's mission and values.”<br><br>However, the FBI use of social media has been criticized in the past, and there is concern about the FBI using social media to monitor protests and Black Lives Matter activities.
