How Do I Have a Friendship Without the Friendship Ending?

Hi. I'm a 21-year-old woman who is also an empathic witch. I am still learning my powers. I have had a few friendships in my life but they always seem to end. Usually over things that are entirely not my fault. Like my ex best friend whom I had known since I was very young decided to steal money from my husbands wallet. I confronted her and she yelled at me and said that I owed her money. I only owe her $5 but I did not hand it over to her. She then went on to say that I'm very mean and I've changed and I was ruining our friendship. I then continued to see her but she would argue with me about it and I finally decided that I was done with her. I am now lonely and I need someone to talk to but my mother says that everyone needs to watch out for themselves because people are assholes. I don't think that's true and I want to see the good in people. I also want a friendship without it ending. How can I have a good friendship without the friendship ending? I would appreciate any tips, tricks, potions, or blessing that could help me.
