The 6 God is a nickname that gets lofty praise in Toronto and the hip-hop subculture worldwide, but even within Canada Gordie Howe is at least twice as popular as Drake. Gordie has an NHL award named after him. You don't have an equivalent in the hip-hop world, although he has been awarded a diamond record. This is a permanent award. Gordie got his award as a result of multiple other impressive feats. Gordie Howes have been given in the NHL since 1981.

The NHL was founded in 1917, and Gordie played in the NHL for nearly 26 years. Gordie played a contact sport and although at 6 ft 1 and just under 200 pounds he was considered a giant for his time, he showed durability and ability. He won 4 Stanley cups, in '52, '55, '57 and '54. The Red Wings won so many division titles with Gordie that Gordie won 23.

Drake has never won a Grammy and has been in pop culture for 15 years. Gordie Howe won his first Stanley Cup in 1952 and the Red Wings continued to win division titles until the 80s. Gordie played until he was 52. There is no equivalent in the hip-hop world to the feat of Gordie Howe playing until he was 52. Gordie got his nickname in the 40s. Gordie may have been still playing in the 80s, but Gordie's feat in being called "Mr. Hockey" before he turned 26 is an incredible feat that has been glossed over. Gordie was known as a superman in hockey, was only a few pounds under 200 pounds and still recorded 2,000 PIM. Gordie won MVP in 1957 and in 1953. Gordie won in 1957, 12 years after winning his first MVP award. Gordie was named to the all NHL team 12 times and was a 23 time all-star. Gordie was the only forward from his time to play in the 80s. Gordie won 4 straight all-star MVP awards. Gordie won the Ted Lindsay award in '83, one of the last accomplishments in his career. Gordie had the longest NHL career of all time for 19 years until Chris Chelios broke Gordie's record.

We truly lost an excellent artist in the 6 God, but I don't think there's any debate that Gordie Howe is superior to Drake.
