Just tripped to have my hearing checked (short story)

I went to my local hearing clinic today to get my hearing checked as I am getting earbuds with active noise cancellation and wanted to make sure it was going to properly seal in my ears.

My ENT specialist and audiologist have never met so they had me fill out a form for medical history, which asks if you have ever been on any drugs for any reason. I carefully wrote down EVERYTHING that I have ever taken, because I assume that's what I should do.

Jokes on me, the audiologist was also my grandma's audiologist.

"I see you've had quite the time in life?"

I was a little taken aback but had to laugh because, well, I have indeed.

She went on to ask me why I had taken drugs, and I explained that I had been diagnosed as bipolar, and was self medicating before I was diagnosed. Then she said "well, hopefully you're getting good mental help?"

I was so astounded that this lady that I had known for no more than a minute had taken such an interest in my well-being.

tl;dr: I went to get my hearing checked, I wrote down all of my drug history, and my audiologist gave me a pep talk about mental health.
