My 46 year old mother has always claimed that she used to live in a different city. She was born and raised in the Washington D.C area (which is where she still lives, I live all the way on the other side of the U.S) and remembers things like her neighbor, her house, and different events she witnessed. She's always said it was very close to the U.S capitol.

She had no recollection of our family ever moving. She claims that she just one day lived with her parents in a different house, with a different neighbor, and different surroundings. She also claims she had different parents. She couldn't tell me much about her other parents but she does say she remembers a mom and a dad, and that they were just 'different.' She was confused for so long in her childhood about her 'parents' but was never able to voice her feelings.

I just recently started researching Glitches in the Matrix. I showed her a video of a woman who claimed that one day she woke up with different parents, in a different city, and she was in shock. My mom said 'that's me!!'

She remembers specific events like when she would watchWizard of Oz and she would watch it with her mom. Except she had no idea who her mom was. She knew that it was her mom yet she had no memory of how she got there with her. She thinks she must have been 4 years old when she started remembering things.

My mom remembers every single thing about her childhood. When she was little she lived in the different city, when she was older she had a different city. I asked why she thinks she can't remember when she switched, why she can't remember ANY type of jarring sensation or why she was confused. She said that she always had an explanation for everything, so she could never quite articulate why she felt like something was wrong.

She grew up with my dad and she does have memories of living with him and his family before she had kids of her own. But she grew up living with her father and her father's family. She has zero memories of her other family. She doesn't even know what her name was or what her family looked like or anything. She knows she had a mom, a dad, and a brother, but that's it. She remembers seeing the U.S capitol as a child and assumes that she had to have been living in D.C then because she doesn't remember visiting D.C as a child after that. She remembers a girl she went to school with when she was little, and she remembers her teacher.

She said that she always used to be confused about how she got to where she was. She NEVER remembered her childhood before the jarring event. That's why she remembers so much. She can't remember her parents or where she lived specifically or anything like that, but she remembers everything from her new childhood. I asked if it was jarring, did she remember the day or month or year that she switched? She said that she did.

She switched in August 1998. She said that jarring sensation in her head was horrible. She said she used to play this video game where you had to do a trick and then you could pull your eyes out of your head and she said that she always felt like that. She had no control over it and it didn't last for very long, and it always went away but it was jarring. She said she remembers seeing the world from a different perspective for a second but then it would go away. Also, I asked her to draw me a picture of her house that she remembers living in and she drew me a very detailed picture of where she lived.

Some other things she remembers is that she has a faint memory of being in a hospital. She remembers it because she can't blink and feels very curious. I think she said she was 6 years old. She remembers being in a car and feeling very excited. She thinks she was going to the beach. I asked what she remembered about the car, she said the seats were a reddish-brown color. I asked who else was in the car and she said it was her and her parents (I assume her fake parents).

I asked her for more details about her house. She said she remembers a creek nearby and playing in it as a child. She doesn't think she was allowed in the creek. She said she remembers storm drains and the cement being grey and she remembers one time it snowed and the kids in her neighborhood had a huge snowball fight.

She said she remembers that she had a best friend, a girl, and they used to walk to school together. She thinks it was elementary school. She doesn't remember what her friend looked like. She used to play tag with boys and she remembers being very bossy. I asked if the boys knew her name, she said that she didn't know.

One of my favorite things she told me was that she remembers that her birthday cake was pink. I asked her what kind of jarring sensation in her head she felt. She said it was like 'whoa.' It was like 'what the F.'

I asked why she didn't grow up with her mom and she said she doesn't have a mom. She said her fake mom died of cancer and then she switched. I asked her why she thinks she switched. She said. 'I don't know. It just changed.' I asked her if she remembers ever thinking that something was wrong. She said that yes, it felt very wrong. But somehow she knew that she was never allowed to question it.

I asked her what she was doing the day she switched and she said she was in class. I asked her how old she was and she said she was 8. She said it was a really scary day. She thought that she was insane. She told me that she knew something was wrong but it felt like a weird memory.

She said that she remembers everything from her childhood. What she wore, where she went with her parents, what foods she ate, what she did as a child. She said that there were a lot of creepy things about her fake childhood. She said she went to a pediatrician who was 'hitting on her'. She said that she used to see a psychologist and that she had to get naked in front of him. She said that she used to get very sick and she would go to the doctor and he would always say that she had 'the flu' and then she would go home and feel better. She said that she was never allowed to leave her house until she was 16.

She said that she remembers that her fake parents were very angry. She said they were very strict. She said she remembers being 'poked and prodded' a lot. I asked her who was doing the poking and prodding she said 'a lot of men.' She said that she remembers getting her blood drawn a lot and having to be naked. She said that her fake mom was very mean, and her fake brother was very mean. She said her fake mom used to 'scream at them a lot', I'm assuming she means her fake brother too. She said that her fake mom used to call them very mean names. She said that she remembers her fake mom being very 'crunchy' and always giving her very strict instructions. She said that she remembers one time she got in trouble for wearing a short skirt.

I asked if she's ever talked about this to anyone, and she said her and her sister have talked about it.

So I don't know what to think. I know that these things are very real for her.
