My friend is a millionaire but he’s lazy and doesn’t want to work anymore

My friend (100% sure he’s a millionaire) has recently started a small business. The business is more of a side project that he enjoys. It doesn’t feel like work. It’s so funny to think about this because he actually runs his business from his home studio.

Not only does he love this business but he’s also so lucky (imo) that the business has been growing so fast. He’s always busy with orders but he doesn’t have to hire employees or complain about backbreaking labor. I know he doesn’t want to grow his business to the point that he has a huge team or worries about inventory/supplies. He just wants to do what he enjoys.

I guess my question is does it ever make sense to abandon creating a business that’s growing fast and quickly becoming very profitable? Right now my friend makes more money than he could ever spend. He’s able to spoil his kids and wife. He’s able to travel the world. He has an amazing house, cars… everything. I’m jealous!

The thing is he recently has started to talk about abandoning the business. He has said it’s just getting too big and he’s no longer enjoying himself. He loves being his own boss but he’s starting to worry that he’s stuck with “a monster” that he can’t get out of.

I have had a few businesses in my past but none of them ever took off like his has. I don’t know what it’s like to be as successful as he is but it seems like an amazing opportunity to find a way to still enjoy what he’s doing even if he hires more employees and expands. I’ve offered for him to go into business with me but he doesn’t want to.

So what are your thoughts? Does it make sense for him to abandon the business?
