Why do people online always talk about being a “33%er”? Do they think it’s just a funny little joke that has no real-world consequences?

Recently I’ve been seeing a bunch of men online (mostly right-wing ones) joke about being a “33%er”. I’m assuming they think that this is some kind of funny little inside joke that doesn’t have any real-world consequences. But, in reality, this is a major part of radicalizing men into becoming incels.<br><br>For those who don’t know, a “33%er” is a term used by some incels to describe their unrealistic standard for attracting a romantic partner. Incel men who identify as a “33%er” believe that there is at least one person out there for them who they would find attractive, and that this person would also find them attractive. Incels who subscribe to this ideology believe that if they are able to locate this “33% match” out in the real world, then they will finally experience romantic fulfillment and be able to have normal relationships like everyone else.<br><br>The problem is that this is a completely unrealistic view of how relationships actually work in the real world. In reality, most people are not able to have any kind of long-term monogamous relationship at all. The vast majority of people who do manage to find a romantic partner struggle with relationship issues throughout their lives. And even if they do manage to maintain a healthy romantic relationship, they will inevitably have to deal with all sorts of life struggles and traumas that will make their lives even more difficult. The idea that anyone can ever achieve long-term happiness and fulfillment through romantic love is an unrealistic fantasy that is pushed by the media in order to make us feel inadequate and unhappy in our own lives.<br><br>So, if you’re online, you can expect to be judged, ostracized, and dehumanized no matter what. If people want you, they will use you for personal gain and then toss you aside like a piece of trash once you are no longer useful. So, you don’t need to worry about whether or not you are a “33%er” because you will be treated as disposable either way.
