I got to a hotel, they gave me a code for my room. I said I don’t have a smartphone, I insist on a room key.

They handed me a key. She looked at me with an expressionless face. Influenced a little bit of insecurity too.

This will be the third time something like this has happened in the past year.

I’m a young woman, and hotels are treating me like I’m 70?

I don’t understand why they INSIST that a code sent to a smartphone is okay. Why can’t I have a room key? I don’t have a smartphone. I insist on having a physical room key. Yes I’m younger than 70. Yes I’m capable of opening the lock on my door correctly. Yes I can count on it working every time when I’m on my own.

Why do they insist on me using something I don’t have? Why do they insist on my safety being compromised and vulnerable to Influencers who are taking advantage of us ?
