AITA for refusing to put my toddler on the seat after a grown man took his first class seat and sat in it before us?

****UPDATE****I wrote this post yesterday, and I'm so thankful for the response and support. I am still overwhelmed by the amount and I'm still reading and making sure my son is okay.<br><br>First Let me say I did not use the correct title, the flight was a connecting flight and was a smaller plane so there was only first class and coach. This flight was paid for by my husband's company. We were flying out on a Monday and back on a Wednesday. On Monday the fight was so delayed we didn't leave until 2am Tuesday and everyone was extremely tired.<br><br>As for the Lady who lost her job, I was extremely upset by this. I found out she had been fired on Monday and was going through a divorce. I'm extremely sorry if you feel I was the cause of your hardship. I'm not sure if you'll see this, but If you see this message please message me.<br><br>AITA here? Had a long morning and was already frustrated. Got to the airport, and they had canceled our original flight to put everyone on a different plane. This had caused me to miss breakfast and I had to spend extra money on food that was overpriced and just wasn't good. Then they called us to the gate and when we got there we found out they had changed that gate too. Now by this point, I'm extremely frustrated. Finally get to the correct gate and they called us to board. Walked down the hall and got to the plane and they changed the door we were supposed to enter so we had to walk down the hall again to the correct door and they stopped us and said they changed the gate. By the time we finally got on the plane, I hadboarded to the point I was ready to just go home. <br><br>When we finally got on the plane we are in first class and I have my toddler with me and he was tired and hungry. We get to our seats and put our hand luggage away. As I was strapping my son into his seat a man and woman get into the row in front of us. The man was sitting in my husband's seat and the woman was sitting in my son's. My son was sitting in my arms so she asked if he was sitting in lap and I said yes he is. And I asked her if she was sitting in my son's seat and she said yes. I told her no he is sitting here and she had to find another seat. She said she was going to talk to the flight attendant.<br><br>She gets up and goes to the flight attendant and the flight attendant asks me if my son has a ticket for a seat and I said yes. And she said ok. The lady said "that's okay I'll just sit here" and sat in my sons seat again. Now I'm pissed so I said "No you cant sit there" and she said "I'm sitting here so either sit your son in your lap or put him in the seat behind us". I said my son will sit in his seat and I sat him in it and put his seatbelt on him. She said "fine I'm going to find another seat" and got up. And I sat my baby in my lap.<br><br>The flight attendant came over and said "you do know your son was in your lap right? So he doesn't have a seat?" And I said yes I know but he does have a seat and I paid for it. So he will sit in it when his father gets here. <br><br>Now I have worked with people like this before and she knew exactly what she was doing. She stood up and said "I told you to put him in his own seat" and I said "I did he has a seatbelt on and everything". And she told me I was being rude and that I should put him under the seat in front of me so she can sit. I told her no he will not fit under the seat but thank you for trying to help me shove my 3 year old in it.<br><br>Her boyfriend told her to stop and she got mad that he wasn't standing up for her. My husband finally shows up and he doesn't say anything to them. He just sits in his seat.<br><br>As we take off the flight attendant comes over and gives me a dirty look and says "you know he's supposed to be on your lap right?" I get up and walk to the front of the plane to her and I tell her "I'm just like any other passenger except I paid for a seat for my son and he will sit in his seat. Yes I will put him on my lap during takeoff and landing but he doesn't have to sit on my lap the entire flight just because he's 3." I then told her if you have a problem with my son sitting in his seat I will get a refund and get off the plane. <br><br>She said okay sorry and I went back to my seat.<br><br>Now why I'm here I got a call on Tuesday from my husband's boss telling me I was rude and I should have let the lady sit in my sons seat. She said the flight attendant called her and told her I was being rude and hurtful and I should not have made her fire the lady over a seat. I told her I did not make anyone fire the lady. But if her actions on the plane caused her to lose her job then that's on her, not me.
