Meta made me feel like I was being held hostage for 7,300 dollars

I recently got locked out of my Instagram and was told by the support team I needed to pay 7,300 dollars for a MMC code in order to get back into my account. When I asked for more information I was told it would take 180 days to get my account back, and that if I chose to wait I wouldn’t be able to get into my account until the time was up. I felt like I was being held hostage, MMC codes are only supposed to be for people who aren’t able to get into their account because their phone number is no longer valid, so why are they introducing a price? I feel like if they get people to pay into MMC codes it’s the same concept as identity theft, and they’re profiting off of it. Does anyone else have an issue with this?
