I work at a fast food joint. We have two windows: one for taking orders in the drive-thru and one for giving out food. I am the only person that takes orders. I give them a total and make sure to let them know that I am passing their order over to the next window where they will receive their food.

I have one coworker in particular who will go to the next window after taking orders, and give out food to people who haven't paid, but who he knows. He steals food from work all the time. I personally think that he steals more than anyone I've ever met. What is even weirder is that our boss knows that he steals and doesn't do anything about it.

Our boss will let him steal because he wants him to feel like he owes him something. Whenever he wants him to do something on the clock that he doesn't want to do, our boss ALWAYS brings up the fact that he lets him steal from work. My coworker always complies without a word, like he feels bad for stealing from work. But then the next day he will go right back to stealing.

I think that it is wild that our boss would let him steal, but it is even weirder that my coworker lets our boss push him around for it.
