I (25M) surprised my wife (24F) with a trip to her favorite city in the world. When she found out, she flipped - literally.

So last Saturday night when I got home from work, my wife was in the kitchen making something to eat. I put my work bag down, walk over, give her a kiss on the cheek and ask how her day was. She says it was good, and I tell her the same. We chat in the kitchen for a few minutes, and then I get to the surprise.

“Hey honey, you know how I had been talking about us taking a trip somewhere nice this year, well I went all out and planned a trip to Paris, and we’re leaving tomorrow afternoon.”

She stopped what she was doing, turned to me, and I could tell she was shocked. We’ve talked about going to Paris a few times in the past because it is her favorite city, but of course we never did because money and COVID and all.

Then she says to me “are you actually serious, I have been wanting to go to Paris for years.”

And with that, my wife literally does a backflip right there in the kitchen.

Now this is important because my wife was a cheerleader in high school. I’ve seen her do gymnastics and stuff like that in the living room before. She has even done a backflip on our bed a few times. However, there is a big difference between doing a backflip on grass, a gymnastics mat, a bed, or a gymnastics floor, and doing it in a kitchen that is literally filled with sharp objects.

So of course when she lands, she slips on the wet tile floor because she’s standing on the part of the kitchen where she was washing some dishes. She falls, smashes her head off of one of the cabinets, hits the ground, and now she’s screaming. Somehow when she slipped, she had fallen in a way where her feet went backwards towards the refrigerator, and when she hit the ground, her feet flew up into the air, and they were resting against the refrigerator when she started screaming.

When she started screaming, I of course rushed over to her, and I have to say, I was pretty concerned. I jump down on the ground, and I see this girl who is supposed to be the love of my life holding her head and crying. I ask her if she’s okay, and she says that she hit her head.

I feel her head, and sure enough there’s a giant bump. So I help her up off of the ground and tell her we’re going to the emergency room.

I call an Uber, and we head to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, she’s still crying, and for a second I was worried that she might have a concussion. So once we get to the hospital, they do a few tests and the doctors say that she seems to be alright.

But because of when the flight is and the fact that they don’t want her to go anywhere for a few days, we are forced to postpone the trip. I tell her when we get home, and she starts crying again. So we go to bed.

Now the reason I posted this is that this happened Saturday night and now it’s Friday. All week, she has been giving me the silent treatment. She hasn’t said a word to me in five days. I try to talk to her, and she doesn’t respond. I have texted her, emailed her, left her voicemails, and even written her a letter. Nothing.

This is honestly terrifying me. What the heck am I supposed to do? We were planning on visiting Paris for five days. She can’t go silent treatment for five days. I don’t know what to do.

Especially since I was planning on proposing to her when we were there.

UPDATE: No she does not have a concussion. The doctors looked her and said that while she did hit her head, it was not hard enough to do any serious damage. She is fine.

EDIT: No. My wife has work. She’s not a stay-at-home wife. And I already reached out to my mom. She said she’s never seen anything like this and that she thinks my wife just needs a bit of time.

EDIT 2: Yeah, we’re flying first class there. But hey, like I said. It’s for our anniversary. That’s why we’re going all out with the trip.

EDIT 3: Yeah, we’re flying first class there. But hey, like I said. It’s for our anniversary.
