My Top Japan Top 15 Anime of the Decade (2015-2015) (Note: To qualify, a show must've at least started in 2015 or end in 2019. It must also be an anime.)

Btw, I just realized that the best of the decade threads are basically all chambers focused, so I decided to do this thread, to see what an average Japanese viewer would put in their top 15 best anime of the decade.

I compiled this ranking from a combination of Japanese polls, fan criticism, and a little bit of my own bias. These are the results, ordered from #15 to my number one:

#15: Kemonozume

This one rolled in just barely, but it was included in the Japanese "top 100 anime of the decade" list, so I figured it was important enough to include on the list here.

#14: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin

Mobile Suit Gundam basically defines the mecha genre, so it's only right to include it here. This OVA is an origin story for the whole franchise, so I thought that was a nice touch.

#13: Sword Art Online

Yes, this one made it. Despite what you may think about Kirito and his harem, SAO pretty much defined the isekai genre for the decade. It's still wildly popular, so it wins a spot on the list. Sorry if you don't like it (I don't like it either), but here we are.

#12: Haikyuu!!

I'm not into sports anime either, but let's be clear here: Haikyuu!! is massively popular, especially in Japan. It's one of the most popular anime of all time, if not THE most popular.

#11: Attack on Titan

Does this one need an explanation? It's wildly popular, and one of the most influential shows of the decade, thanks largely to the success of the manga. It's going down in history as one of the most iconic series of all time.

#10: Devilman Crybaby

Devilman is originally a classic manga from the 80s, but this Netflix-produced adaptation got a lot of attention, and this show was one I really enjoyed. Also note that this is the only Netflix show on this list, since there just isn't that many super popular Netflix anime in Japan.

#9: Dragon Ball Super

After being gone for 18 years, the Dragon Ball franchise returned, and it's still one of the most popular amines out there. This decade saw the return of our favorite spiky-haired hero and a slew of new shows and movies.

#8: Pokémon Sun and Moon

Pokémon was already huge, but Sun and Moon blew the roof off, and were a massive success in Japan. I'm not sure if it's still popular, but I thought this was a good time as any to include it.

#7: My Hero Academia

MHA got a lot of attention, especially at the end of the decade. It's one of the most popular shows right now, and I'll admit this was one of my favorite shows of the year.

#6: One Punch Man

This one also got a lot of attention, although I personally didn't like it as much as MHA. Still, it's one of the most popular shows out there right now.

#5:cells at work

This one got a lot of attention for it's unique premise and setting. It's one of those educational anime that are all the rage, and it's gotten a big fanbase.

#4: March Comes in Like a Lion

This show was a work of art, and it's one of the most highly acclaimed shows of the decade. It was included in the Japanese top 100 list, and it's an absolutely fantastic show.

#3: Dororo

This show was also included in the top 100 list, and I thought it was one of the better shows of the decade. It's a beautifully animated show with a great premise and setting.

#2: Re:Zero

Isekai got popular this decade, but Re:Zero is one of the few that stands out as one of the decade's best shows.

#1: Made in Abyss

I'm not much of an isekai fan, but Made in Abyss was the clear winner this decade, with over 40k votes in one Japanese poll. It's popular in both Japan AND the US, and it's one of the only anime to win an Annie Award.

That's my list! If you've got something to say, please comment!
