My mind is boggled that this is a true story.

My roommate told me that he had a friend who got killed by the wrong bullet in Las Vegas a few years ago. We were all apologetic about it, and I was shocked at how much of a coincidence it seemed. I told my roommate that it would be crazy if he ever found out any details.

Tonight ( two years after this) he told me that his friend had found out who got killed by the wrong bullet, if you’re confused I’ll explain.

In Las Vegas, when the shooter went on and killed all those people, he shot a cop in the middle of it all. The cop survived the incident, and he was able to recuperate from his injuries. I’m not sure how he found out, but my roommates friend was able to find out the name of the officer, and it was his childhood best friend. The cop went on an insane apologetic tangent about how he was shot when he was the same age as my roommates friend, and their friendship began to deteriorate as they got older. The cop said that he never found any closure about the deterioration of their relationship because the other guy just stopped talking and moved away. He says that he always wondered what he would have done if he talked to him ever again.

The cop continued to talk and explained that he was such a different person from what he was before, and this is why. The bullet was meant for his childhood best friend at his sisters wedding, and the guilt and grief that he felt about it, and realizing he would have never known how it happened, made him change and become the man he is today.

The cop questioned all night and all morning if the man who was shot had realized that it was him that he was meant to be. They both understood the realization that the bullet was meant for him, and that he would never have known that the man he lost had become a cop and shot him at the wedding, but the cop isn’t sure if he ever knew that he was the one who was shot, and that he would have never got to talk to him again.

I just can’t believe that this is a true story, this sounds like some kind of fantasy shit I make up when I’m high and bored, but this is actually true.
