Me (37F) and my husband (38M) have 3 kids, (12M), (7F) and (4M).

My husband and I both work full time. I work like 45 min away from home, and he works a 10 minute walk away. I cannot move my job any closer.

I have to drop off the kids to school in the morning, and I have to be at work by 8.30 a.m. I usually pick them up 4 p.m and bring them home. My office does allow me to work from home, but I don't like it.

My husband starts work at 2 p.m. and finishes work at 11 p.m. He is always free until 1.30 p.m so I asked if he could drop off the kids in the morning since I have to leave earlier than he does.

He didn't really like this and said it took up too much of his time in the mornings. I suggested he drop them off in the morning, and I pick them up after leaving work and bring them home. He agreed but said I had to pick up dinner for them and not leave it on him to find something for them to eat.

So this is my routine now. I drop them off in the morning to school, I leave for work and come home around 5.30 p.m, I take them to a restaurant to eat and then come home.

He comes home at 11 p.m and usually brings a take away for himself. I used to leave some food in the fridge for him but he said it doesn't taste good when its cold, and I was wasting his money.

My sister baby sat for me for 5 days last week while I went on a short holiday with the kids. She said it was okay but the morning drop offs were a bit tiring for her and she had to skip some of her classes to do it.

I went on a short vacation to the beach with my kids for 7 days. My sister took care of the kids for the first 5 days and my mom took care of them for the last two days. I told my husband I was going away for work for 5 days and he agreed to my sister staying at the house. I said I would come home on the 6th day and he agreed.

After my sister left, my mom stayed over and looked after the kids.

My husband was surprised to see me walking in the door on the 7th day since he thought I was coming home on the 6th. He was very very upset when he found out I had gone on a holiday and taken the kids with me. He said he had to spend 2 weeks wages on take away food and that it was expensive.

I told him the money he spent on food was nothing compared to the free child care he got for 1 week. He said it was still his money and he spent it because I lied to him and said I was going away for work.

AITA?
