I used to work second shift as a waitress. I'd get home around 3:00am, and had to be back at work at 3:00pm. So I'd usually stay up for a while when I got home.

My apartment was on the second floor, and above the garage so the actual door was about 10 feet off the deck, and there was a small roof over the door so the rain wouldn't hit us when we were unlocking it.

One night I came home from work and my neighbors were having a party. The music was pretty loud, so I walked over and politely asked them to keep it down. They said sorry and did turn it down, but it was still a little too loud for me to sleep.

Around 3:30 I decided to stay up and clean instead of trying to sleep. I was vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing everything.

Around 5:00 I got tired and decided it was time for bed. I sat on my bed, and had just started to take my shirt off when a man stood in my doorway watching me.
I screamed at the top of my lungs. The man said "oh shit I'm sorry, my friend lives here!" And ran out.

I was so terrified. I couldn't call 911 because the man didn't actually do anything wrong, you know, besides standing in my bedroom door watching me without permission. I was shaking so bad, I was crying, and I honestly couldn't have said anything to the police even if I wanted to.

I was in shock for at least a week. I couldn't sleep in my bed. I didn't want to be in my apartment at all. It was terrifying. I finally called the police and asked if I could file a report, just in case he had a history of doing this. They said of course, it would be filed under harassment, and they sent someone over to take my statement.

The police were able to get surveillance video from a camera across the street from the complex, and they were able to see that the man had gone into the roof over my door, and stood there listening as I cleaned. He watched me through my windows for at least an hour before he finally broke in. They were able to get his face from the video, and everyone in the complex was sent pictures asking if we recognized him. No one did.

They never found him.
But that is 100% my "lets not meet" moment.
