Americans, please stop pretending like the rest of the world is some scary place to travel to.

I'm tired of hearing the constant "OMG you're traveling alone to [insert country]?? Isn't that scary??". No, the rest of the world is not like some war zone. Like wtf is the deal with this US-centric "we are the center of the universe and the rest of the world is to be feared" mentality? Every time I go abroad, the infrastructure is better, the people are more informed, and the environment is protected better than it is in the US.

I just don't understand what part of the US culture makes us believe that we are superior and the rest of the world are just inferior savages. Like I would NEVER go on some European or Asian chamber and be like "OMG I'm traveling to New York, isn't that scary??", because I would be called out immediately for saying some dumb shit like that.

I swear to God if I hear one more person tell me to stay safe in Europe or some shit, I'm gonna lose it. Like what is there to stay safe from? What are they supposed to be afraid of? Do they just watch Fox News all day and genuinely believe that the rest of the world is uncivilized?

EDIT: Well this blew up. Some of you are just proving my point further. I seriously doubt anyone who's saying "well what about the riots in Paris/Athens??". Like, you literally have no idea what you're talking about, you're just regurgitating what you heard from some shit newspaper. These riots are about an entirely different issue and are not some random, innocent tourist-targeting rioting, as you'd have to be completely uninformed to not know what's going on in current events. Like you people literally have 0 idea about the world outside of your small town or whatever.
