How to avoid “I need a friend” but just want a “friend with benefits” situation?

I see it all the time on dating apps - someone says they are just looking for friends but then expects benefits - I don’t want to be in a friends with benefits situation anymore, I’m looking for a serious relationship. How do I avoid this situation?
