sorry if this post is crappy I’m on my phone.

I’ve been watching anime for years and the more I think about it the less I like what is happening to anime.

you can just call me a racist if you want but I really don’t like how anime is becoming more and more westernized, anime used to be a window to a completely different culture, anime used to be set in Japan which made it feel special, I just like looking at the background in anime and seeing Japanese signs and things like that. Japan is a very unique and interesting country and their media used to reflect that, now it seems like anime companies are just pandering to a global audience like Disney and marvel, anime just doesn’t feel as special as it did years ago.

I also don’t like how anime is becoming more and more sexualized, ecchi was always a thing of course, but now it seems like every single show has fanservice that seems completely uncalled for, a lot of anime just seem like an excuse to show breasts now which is honestly a bit saddening. Even anime aimed at kids like digimon seems to have some fanservice now.

I don’t like how it seems like the amount of anime being produced is declining in quality greatly as the amount being produced is increasing, apparently there is an “anime shortage” and it’s not hard to see why with how awful the working conditions are for animators. The more the Japanese government lets anime studio’s abuse and mistreat their employees the more I think anime is just going to decline in quality even further.

I’m sorry if this post just sounds like I’m being a racist and I don’t like “Hurr durrr asians” but I just think anime is being taken in a direction that I personally just don’t like and I wonder if anyone else shares my sentiments about this.

edit: thanks for the awards, I can’t reply to everyone but I like reading the comments.
