The guy I met outside my apartment

This happened when I was 16, which was now 17 years ago outside an apartment in Australia.
I'd been out with some friends at a party, but didn't stay as late as they did. I ended up leaving at around midnight.
The way I got in was through a roller door that led to a corridor and then to two lifts.
I was on the way to the door when I saw a guy who appeared to be older than me (he looked to be in his mid 30s). He had a briefcase and looked fairly well dressed for that time of the night.
As I walked closer to the roller door, he opened it and gestured to me to walk through which I did.
There was then a corridor that took us to the lifts.
He started walking the way I was walking. I didn't even say anything to him and he didn't say anything to me I was too tired.
Anyway, when we reached the lifts I pressed the button for one of them.
He then pressed the button for the other lift and then said 'I hope I'm not in the wrong tower'.
Now this comment struck me as odd, because I had lived in that building since I was 8 and everyone I had met over the years knew which tower they were in because we had lived there so long.
I always thought that maybe he was new or something.
But then I asked "which floor are you going to?" And he said "all of them".
I thought that was a weird thing to say, but I told him what floor I lived on.
By this time, the lifts had come and we both got in our own lifts.
I got out of my lift, and when I turned to walk towards my apartment the other lift opened.
A woman about my age or slightly older (I think she was around 17 as well) walked out of the lift.
I said, "is that your dad or something?" And she said, "no. I don't know where he is or why he's here. But I don't like the vibe I'm getting from him at all".
We walked towards my apartment.
She stayed for about half an hour and then said she was going back to her own apartment (which was 3 floors higher than mine).
We hugged each other and she said call me in the morning to make sure I'm alright.
She then left my apartment.
I waited for about 10 minutes, and then looked through my peephole and saw the guy I had met in the corridor and lifts standing in front of my door, and she was standing next to him.
When I saw that, I immediately called the police.
The police told me to stay on the line and not to hang up.
At the time I lived alone because my mum was interstate.
Not long after the doorbell rang and I said "who is it?"
And the girl said that the guy was her boyfriend and that he had a key to my door!
I said "I'm going to call the police" and she said "I'm trying to stop him from doing something, just let him in so we don't hurt you".
When she said that, I leaned into the phone a bit more and said that they were trying to get into my apartment.
The police said "ok, we're here. Just stay where you are".
The police were in the car park, the corridor, on the balcony to my left and on the balcony to my right.
In total there were about 8 or 9 police officers surrounding my apartment and the area those two were in.
They stayed there for about 2 hours before they finally left and the police gave me the all clear.
Anyway, I never heard from either of them again, and I never found out what their true intentions were.

I hope that we don't meet again.
