Tech is soon going to make a LOT of people angry

I read an interview with Elon Musk a short while ago where he mentioned he thinks AI is going to eliminate a lot of jobs. This is all well and good, but his solution is just for UBI (a concept that’s been around for years and is gaining traction), but I don’t think that’s going to solve anything.

Over the next 5-10 years, I think there’s going to be a LOT of anger from people who feel blindsided by all the change. And it’s completely understandable. If you went to school to be a doctor or a lawyer, can you imagine how angry you’d be if your services became redundant? Or your kids? I’m picturing a lot of outcry and animosity towards the companies and people who bring this (good) change into the world. But I don’t think Elon or anyone else has really put it into words just how big this paradigm shift is going to be. I’m a 1st year computer science major and I’ve heard people saying all the time how everything we learn is going to be obsolete in a few years and that there’s no real point to us being in school. It’s overwhelming, just thinking about having to completely adapt to a new world. And the impending doom of our current way of life isn’t going to be ignored forever.
