A little earlier, I was talking to a friend about the days when it was normal to see those "I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why I'm right" tshirts and memes. About the days when men always felt like they needed to prove themselves and explain themselves and apologise and explain themselves some more for just existing.

And my friend commented that social media was less fun these days and that it's really not the same as it was fourteen years ago.

I think part of the reason for that is that the patriarchy is winning. For the first time in history, we're seeing a reversal of progress and society is going backwards.

We used to laugh at incels and mock the alt-right, and now we're afraid of saying anything because who knows who might be listening, and we don't want to be doxxed. We used to be able to say that men are controlling, emotional, toxic, abusive bullies, and we could laugh about it and the world would laugh with us. But now, if we say that in the wrong place at the wrong time, the wrong person might see it, and our lives might be destroyed.

I miss the days when we could say that men are controlling, emotional, toxic, abusive bullies and laugh about it with the world. I miss the days when we weren't afraid.

I miss the old internet.

Sorry to rant.
