Just go to system settings ? Screenshots and screen recorder ? recording ? screen recording. Then let it record longer than you feel it will be and when you are finished with ChatGPT, you will find the recording in Files>Documents>ScreenRecordings. Then click on it and save it to the cloud drive of your choice. It will now be available for you to open anywhere and use even after 3 days has passed and Chatgpt autosaves are deleted. This is the hack - that works around the 20k character limit. If you have Pro, or Pro Max, you can go back to a prompt you did 6 months ago or a year ago and it will open up in Chatgpt.

One thing I did to make it much more useable was to make it so Chatgpt doesn’t autosave anything less than 4k characters. So I set that parameter so that only responses that are 4k characters or higher get autosaved. This keeps my saves from going over the 100 saves limit and keeps clutter from building up.

I also will intentionally delete autosaves if it’s something I don’t want to save. And I also will use the “not this one” button on the autosave if it’s much shorter than 4k characters. I also will use the “not this one” if I’m just asking Chatgpt something and it’s not important enough for me to save.

Also, the saved texts that I’ve recorded with screen recording are also indexed in Chatgpt so I can search for them in the search bar when I want. And I will find the autosave there and can go to it. Or find the recorded text file there.

Another thing I’ve done to keep my saves organized is to use folders. Just click on “saved items” and “new folder” and then set up the folder the way you want. You can also drag and drop your saves into a folder you previously created and they will be organized in that category.

So that’s it. This is the hack around the 20k character limit for Chatgpt. Ask me any questions you have in the comments and I will try to help.
