I’ve got a great ASO offer on the table with a huge company and also a separate offer for a 100% remote job as a software engineer. I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. I’ve never been an engineer before, but I’ve spent the last six months learning how to code, so I’m pretty new to all of this.

The ASO offer is with a top five tech company, and I’d be in a support role. I’ve heard it’s the best place to learn and I would have access to some of the best resources. I know it’s the *’traditional’* way to go, but I’m just not sure.

The other offer is 100% remote working as a software engineer. The pay is actually way better than the ASO role, and I’d have *’business use’* access to a Macbook Air M1 and a new iPhone. I’d be doing a lot of the same stuff I’ve been doing in my own time, but on their stuff *and stuff they use*. I imagine I would probably need to buy a new PC for gaming, but that’s probably not an issue. *Something doesn’t feel right though.* it’s a lot of stuff *’for work’* to give a new hire. I know they expect me to use it a lot for work and very little for personal stuff, but I’m still a bit skeptical of it. I would also be working very largely unrelated to what I want to do long term. It’s mobile app stuff. Which is enjoyable, but I want to work in cloud architecture.

I’m stuck and am not sure what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

TL;DR: I need to choose between an ASO offer with a top tech company and a remote software engineer role. I’m not sure which is better for my career and would appreciate any advice.
