I am currently a long term sub in 3rd grade. I have one more month with the group. In January my own classroom will be ready and I will have a new class of 3rd graders. This is my dream come true. I have wanted to be a teacher for 21 years and I have worked my butt off to stay in school, work full time, and take care of my family. I feel extremely lucky.
I am somewhat new to 3rd grade and still learning the curriculum and the room and routines. I feel like I am just getting to know these kids and once I do I will have to start over.
What are your tips for starting over in January?
What should I not stress out about and what should I focus on?
I am very organized and I am working on the classroom now and trying to think of all the little things I will need.
I don’t know if I can do a fun day on the first day because of testing in January, but I would love to do something fun.
