Sexism and the demise of the feminine ideal

Sexism refers to beliefs, actions, or practices that reflect prejudice based on an individual's biological sex. Sexism may lead to feelings of rejection, prejudice, the lack of respect and loss of dignity for one gender as a result of the belief, internalized by both sexes, that the male ideal is the norm and that the female ideal is inferior. So, it is not a new phenomenon. Women have been subjected to sexism for centuries. The female ideal is constantly demoted. Women's rights and equality are important in achieving self-confidence and a high quality of life. Femininity is not inferior to masculinity.
