My dad found a S&W M19 in a gully

My dad is 71 years old and he loves to trail ride, out on his horse or with his friends on their horses. Today he was out in his horse, and while he was on the trail, he noticed something metal in a gully. He looked and saw a pistol, pretty dirty but he could tell it was an old S&W M19, I think he said 4 inch barrel. He was able to figure out that someone had shot it into the ground and it had skidded into the gully. He took it home, washed it, lubed it, and took it to a range. It shoots perfectly.<br><br>I called a few antique places in his area and none are really interested. I suggested to him to just keep it, as it's in great shape but he says he doesn't really want it. I know it's a great story, but I don't want to save it. Any suggestions?
