What did people mean when they said that "money is worthless and worthless people have all the money" in the immortal words of WG?

I've heard the quote numerous times from George Carlin but I'm starting to see evidence of it every fresh day. I browsed r/rant and r/offmychest and I'm blown away by the evidence of what he said.

I was a kid when I first heard that quote and I was simply amused by the sheer truth of WG's words but I never had an idea of how deep and wide his message went. I know that what he said had been said previously by other people but I believe that WG was the one that said it out loud in such clear and concise manner.

What I've seen from the personal stories of everyday people who, in many cases, chose to remain anonymous about their experiences, makes me want to puke. These are personal stories of people speaking their minds out. What WG said isn't just comedy. It's the reality we live in. It isn't the economy that's the problem. It's a class war in which one class is fighting the other classes for personal profit.

I'm angry that so many people have so much wealth stacked up. The only reason why I don't feel like going out there and drowning them in the sea just yet is that I've never been personally affected by the capitalist wars waged on us. But reading the personal stories up there makes me feel angry that I never had any idea how this is the reality of everyday people.

People are suffering and the widening wealth gap doesn't help things. It's not the economy. It's the capitalist system that's at fault. People have been convinced that after a good day's work they won't be able to afford a $3 meal from McDonald's when CEOs and business tycoons who have never done any productive work in their lives are swimming in wealth, laughing at the gullibity of the people.

I've read that in the 2008 recession, while people were on the streets without a home to live in and without any money to feed themselves, the CEOs and tycoons still weren't affected by it.

Why would they? They still had all the wealth stacked up. It's just money. You can't eat it, you can't drink it. It's worthless. But these worthless people will still have all the wealth and they still do and they still will.
